Contact Unlock Policy

When buyer and seller contact details become visible.

Last updated: May 2026

No public contacts during the auction

Seller phone numbers, email addresses, and direct messaging handles are not displayed on public auction pages or to random visitors while the auction is live.

This protects privacy and keeps bidding on-platform until a result is recorded.

Unlock after winning result

When the auction ends and DeadStock records a qualifying winning buyer (and any reserve is met if applicable), contact unlock runs automatically for that transaction.

Both parties can then see the contact fields each provided for completing the sale.

Buyer sees seller; seller sees buyer

The winning buyer sees seller contact details. The seller sees the winning buyer’s contact details. Each side should use this information only to complete that auction’s transaction.

Signed-out users and non-winners

Users who did not win, bidders who lost, and signed-out visitors cannot access unlocked contacts. Only authenticated parties to the winning outcome receive unlock in the dashboard or post-auction panel.

Reserve not met — no unlock

If the highest bid does not meet the seller’s reserve, or if there are no qualifying bids when the auction ends, there may be no winner and contacts typically stay locked. Buyers should not expect seller details in those cases.

No product payment through DeadStock at launch

Contact unlock is for coordination only. DeadStock does not process the item payment at launch. Payment amount equals the winning bid unless the parties agree otherwise in writing between themselves.

Misuse

Publishing another user’s unlocked contacts, spamming, or soliciting off-platform deals before unlock may result in account restrictions and removal of listings.
